Citizenship and British Values
The promotion of citizenship is a fundamental part of the Bridge ethos. We have been dedicated to create ‘Young Citizens of Conscience’ since 2000.
We promote community cohesion through:
- A sense of belonging with a common vision
- Appreciating and valuing the diversity of peoples’ backgrounds
- Ensuring similar life opportunities are available to all
- Strong and positive relationships within the school and the wider community.
Our school is committed to actively promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; the pupils are encouraged to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.
Our Code of Respect
Every child and adult entering Bridge Junior School should feel positive and be encouraged to feel positive about themselves, others and their learning opportunities.
This, in an environment which promotes:
- caring, kindness and calmness.
It can only be achieved through mutual respect.
In all daily activities there should be a awareness of
- choice, tolerance, differences, equal opportunity and being included.
In all day activities we should take care to
- behave in a way that helps others.
- speak or use language in a way that helps us to work and play together with confidence and in safety.
- converse with others in ways which are not critical or judgmental.
- express ourselves as individuals in a way that makes us proud of ourselves and of others.
In order that everyday we feel good as individuals and part of our community.
