Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College is a vibrant comprehensive, co-educational school for 11-16 year olds determined to do our very best for the families in our community. It is an exciting time to join Broadoak as our journey towards being brilliant is well underway. With decisive leadership, comprehensive plans to maximise all students’ abilities and a moral commitment to work tirelessly for all the young people in our care, students remain front and centre in all that we do.
Broadoak has safe and happy young people
Young people are at the very heart of the College and we believe that students should enjoy their time at school and achieve across a whole range of areas. We provide a happy and safe environment within which students can experience opportunities beyond the classroom and we are tenacious and vigilant in in creating a safe and harmonious community for our students.
Broadoak is proud of the wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.
Our students can develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by participating in a range of enrichment and activities. For those who are talented performers, we can offer a range of opportunities including an opportunity to be part of our Performing Arts Showcase or a whole school production like The Wiz which played to full audiences this year. We also have very successful partnerships with both the North Somerset and the Taunton Music Services for peripatetic music and singing lessons. Budding entrepreneurs and inventors might want to take part in Young Enterprise or our science and engineering clubs. Perhaps taking up Latin, or reading some literary classics like The Great Gatsby appeals more or maybe one of our many fabulous sports teams who compete regularly in fixtures. We also believe that students should have a range of opportunities to develop leadership skills from playing a role in our school sports teams, being a tutor representative, interviewing prospective staff and when they reach Year 11, perhaps even being a prefect!
Academic results where every student matters
In 2016/7 61% of our students achieved the new benchmark ‘pass’ in Maths and 62% in English. However, we are not complacent and are working hard to make sure all students exceed their own expectations and get their personal best! We want every student to be able to take their next step in life with confidence and optimism whether that next step be A-levels or an apprenticeship. We have a determined focus on the classroom and on ensuring all our young people are learning, developing and progressing.
We are particularly proud that our school community produces well-rounded, polite and courteous young people who go on to be successful in college and the workplace.
