Overview

The Federation, which began in September 2014, comprises of two schools:

• Carlisle Infant School

• Hampton Hill Junior School

We have been linked for many years and this new Federation has given us a wonderful opportunity to bring these two excellent schools closer together with each and every child at the heart of all that we do.

About Us

High Expectations from Start to Finish

Every individual working within the federation will be committed to playing their full part in continually improving each child`s experience of school through the highest standards of care, teaching, learning opportunities, communications, environment and enjoyment from EYFS through to Y6 and beyond.

Effective Learning and Challenge for All

The impact of all teaching and interventions will enable all pupils to make at least expected or better than expected progress and will close gaps in attainment for individuals and groups of children. We will have an agreed understanding and expectation of outstanding teaching and learning, that begins in EYFS and continues through to the end of Y6, and the role that all staff have in achieving this.

Continuous Improvement, Review and Reflection

Individuals will know their strengths and areas of development. They will work to share their strengths and make improvements through a culture of coaching, a positive and robust appraisal system, CPD which is monitored and evaluated and includes a personal CPD file, professional development observations and feedback, research and study. The SLT will have a full understanding of the needs of all staff and will plan to ensure they can continually reflect on practise, impact and improvement; celebrating and sharing good practise across the federation and beyond.

Strong Leadership – In the Classroom and Beyond

There will be a clear and understood staffing structure and all staff will be knowledgeable about their roles and responsibilities and the expectations of their jobs. Leadership will be a real strength within the Federation; children leading in different areas across the curriculum and staff leading within their classroom and beyond.

There will be an understanding and acceptance that leadership brings with it, responsibility and accountability.

Nurturing and Innovative Culture

We will work towards an innovative, exciting and progressive curriculum across the whole Federation and to do this effectively, systems such as planning, finance, IT and assessment will be standardised and consistent.

We will ensure that transition at all level within the Federation is a well planned, individual, responsive and a positive experience for children and families

All staff will be proud to be part of the Federation and will be able to articulate the Federations aims and aspirations.

Carlisle Infant School

We are a large over-subscribed 3 form entry infant school with 270 pupils on roll.

We are fortunate to be situated close to Bushy Park and our pupils benefit from regular visits to this wonderful outdoor environment. We believe that children learn best when they can be active and we have a large outdoor environment including two designated gardens so the children have daily opportunities to develop their skills in a range of subjects out of doors.

We are a school where children are encouraged to develop their creative talents and we are proud of or ARTSmark Gold award which we have held since 2005. We are committed to curriculum enrichment and have a large number of creative workshops and visiting artists who come in to school and provide a focus for the children’s learning.

Hampton Hill Junior School

We are a large and over-subscribed three form entry junior school with 360 pupils on roll. We federated with Carlisle Infant School in September 2014 and work extremely well with them, sharing high aspirations and a consistency in approach which supports and promotes the clear progression of all pupils, as they move through KS1 and KS2. We also have very positive working relationships with other partner KS1 and KS3 schools and are committed to ensuring a successful transition for all pupils.

We believe that children learn best when they can be fully involved in their own learning and we are committed to providing them with as wide a range of enriching and engaging experiences as possible. We are fortunate to be situated close to a wide range of stimulating outdoor environments, which we regularly make use of to enhance the experiences the children have at HHJS.

We are a school where children are encouraged to participate in and develop their academic and creative interests and talents and we are proud of the range of external validations we hold, in regard to key areas such as art, music, curriculum, international links and sustainability.

We have a central belief that pupil voice and leadership are key qualities that are beneficial to all and as such, we look to encourage and support the development of these whenever possible.
