Welcome to Chertsey Nursery School.

We offer quality early years education to children aged 2, 3 and 4 years old and have been at the heart of Chertsey for over 50 years. Our children benefit from specially trained early years practitioners in an environment where children are encouraged to explore and experiment.

Chertsey Nursery School is one of four maintained nursery schools in Surrey. As an early education provider, it differs from the rest of the sector as it is legally constituted as a school, benefiting from qualified teachers and leaders who are early years specialists, as well as a governing body, and delegated budget.

About Us

In September 2018, we entered into an exciting partnership with Dorking Nursery School who have been rated as outstanding in their last six Ofsted Inspections. This exciting partnership will be a positive venture for both Chertsey and Dorking in terms of our development, but also financial sustainability.

Our Executive Headteacher, Donna Harwood-Duffy works across both Chertsey and Dorking, bringing a wealth of expertise in early education to enable Chertsey to continue to develop and provide the very best. Anita Cheeseman is the Head of School based at Chertsey. Anita leads the school on a daily basis ensuring that all our children and families are supported.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

We are fully committed to the inclusion of all children and believe that this is beneficial to both the mainstream children and those with special needs that they play and learn together. We have long experience and expertise in working with children with varying special needs, and involve the parents, who know their child best, in every aspect of the child’s learning at nursery.

We have the skills and expertise to educate children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in either our mainstream or our specialist class. Our specialist class supports children with identified complex needs. To find out more about the admissions process, please view our Admissions Policy and SEND Admissions page.

Our specialist class can support children with a variety of additional needs, including autism. Children may have mild physical difficulties and speech language and communication needs. To find out more visit our specialist class page.
