As a new school we have the opportunity to grow and develop our own curriculum to meet the needs of the school community. As the school grows, we are always recruiting new staff as we expand by a year group each year.

We are a new three form entry primary school which opened its doors to reception children for the first time in September 2015. Each year the school will increase its age range, adding an additional year group until it is an all through primary school in 2022. In 2016 we moved to our long term site on St James Road, Croydon, a new purpose built school.

Our new school building boasts state of the art technology in a modern, purpose built school. With a newly formed team of staff, we are excited by the opportunity to provide a relevant, irresistible curriculum which promotes a love of learning and secures the highest standard for every child. At Chestnut Park Primary School, we believe in working with the local community to ensure school is a place ‘where children grow, learn and flourish together’. This ethos is embedded within our vision, values and aims.

Working for Us

So, what are the benefits of working for a school in the GLF family of schools? We are a group of schools rooted in providing the best possible education for children and we are not motivated by ‘making a profit’. This means we enable each Headteacher and their team of leaders to ensure that the work of their school is of the highest standard allowing children and young people to have high aspirations. We continually offer excellent CPD opportunities as well as supported career development across the family of schools. Over the past three years, we have trained and developed 15 leaders who have been promoted to headship, deputy headship, assistant headship and school business managers. Our family of schools regularly network and collaborate to share insight, expertise and best practice not only within our own family but also beyond. (For example last term, Glyn School hosted an Independent Thinking ‘Big Day Out’, where some of the UK’s leading educational innovators, thinkers, authors and practitioners came together to share ideas, insights and strategies.)

Curriculum Statement

 

Chestnut Park Primary School is committed to developing a love of learning through a curriculum in which children are inspired, excited and challenged. If the children enjoy their learning experiences, they will want to engage in these learning experiences again and again. 

In September 2015, Chestnut Park Primary School  welcomed our first cohort of reception children. This provided us with a unique and exciting opportunity to personalise the curriculum to their needs and interests. 

Dream- Achieve- Inspire

Our philosophy is simple; if children enjoy learning, they will set themselves aspirational goals or dreams. Within an exciting, challenging and creative environment, children will achieve these goals whilst inspiring each other and driving their learning forward. Our ‘Dream-Achieve-Inspire’ philosophy towards the curriculum creates this community of learning.

Our Curriculum is based on three key drivers:

Basic Skills               Enterprise               Diversity

 

Basic Competence- children will secure, retain and apply the skills of reading, communicating, writing and calculating to the highest standard.

Enterprise- children will be innovative, embrace challenge and develop as independent learners and thinkers.

Diversity- the curriculum is developed knowing that children learn best when actively engaged in the world around them. Our curriculum embraces equality and diversity; developing the school’s values, within a language rich and nurturing environment.

About Croydon

Croydon is a town in South London, located within the London Borough of Croydon to which it gives its name. It is situated 9.5 miles (15.3 km) south of Charing Cross.

Croydon is located on the natural transport corridor between London and England's south coast, just to the north of two gaps in the North Downs, one followed by the route of the A23 Brighton Road from Purley to Merstham and the other followed by the A22 from Purley to the M25 Godstone interchange. Croydon has developed as an important centre for shopping.

Croydon is split up by a number of different areas in the same borough. Fairfield, Broad Green, West Croydon and South Croydon make up the rest of Croydon, but are known as separate areas in their own right. The most prominent of these towns is South Croydon, which has become a town of its own, with various shops and its own high street.
