Overview

Christ’s School is a Church of England comprehensive school for 770 young people aged between 11 and 18. It is situated on an enviable site adjacent to Richmond Park in Richmond upon Thames in South West London.

We have excellent links with our feeder primary schools and the local community and are proud to be a faith school and welcome students from Christian and other religious backgrounds. Our new sixth form is currently in its second year of operation and in October 2014 we moved into our state of the art new sixth form building which will eventually hold up to 180 sixth form students.

AboutUs

All members of our community are encouraged to learn and achieve. We recognise and celebrate success wherever we can. We believe that we all have talent and that it is our responsibility to identify, nurture and develop that talent to the best of our abilities with the help, guidance and support of others. Our community is founded on the Christian values of love, justice and peace, and they underpin everything that we do at Christ's. There are currently around 50 teaching staff and a similar number of support staff on a variety of full and part time contracts.  Our outcomes have dramatically improved over recent years.

Following our Ofsted Inspection in November 2016, we are delighted that Christ’s School was awarded a Good judgement, using the new assessment framework.

Since 2015, schools have been assessed by Ofsted using a much more demanding and rigorous framework, therefore we are particularly pleased that Christ’s performed so strongly in every criteria. In recognition of our values of Love, Justice and Peace we are thrilled that our work to ‘promote pupils’ personal development’ has been judged as ‘outstanding’ and ‘the level of care and support for all pupils is of the highest standard’. Reflecting our culture of ambition for every student, Ofsted recognised that ‘teachers have high expectations of their pupils’ and, as a result, ‘attainment is high’ with ‘pupils attainment at the highest grades strong in a variety of subjects’.

The Ofsted Inspection follows our SIAMS Inspection earlier in 2016 where Christ’s was recognised as Outstanding. Both reports reflect the hard work that everyone involved with the school puts in on a daily basis to ensure that our students develop into mature and responsible adults.

Working in Richmond

Richmond is a unique jewel in London’s crown. Often considered London’s most attractive borough it has been a favourite retreat for the rich and famous throughout history. Home to the marvels of Hampton Court and Twickenham Stadium it rivals anywhere in London for things to see and do. Seen as the happiest place in London to live, the balance of being close enough to central London while maintaining a large amount of open green space.

Located just 8 miles south west of central London, Richmond has fantastic transport links with access to London Underground’s District Line and train services to Waterloo. Heathrow Airport is 12 miles away and can be reached easily by road, train or bus and the M3, M25 and M4 motorways all provide easy access to the area.

Richmond is a friendly and lively centre with excellent facilities including numerous shops and boutiques, pavement cafes and bars, charming pubs and sophisticated restaurants serving top class international cuisine. With so much history and heritage, wildlife and leisure activities, Richmond has something for everyone and is a wonderful environment in which to bring up a family.  Along with a variety of galleries, art centres and cinemas, there is the fabulous Richmond Theatre on The Green along with The Orange Tree theatre.

The Borough also offers up some of the most attractive green open spaces within London including a number of Royal Parks, the most notable of which is the famous 2,300+ acres of Richmond Park.  The River Thames is a major feature of Richmond. Running through the heart of the Borough it winds its way for 21 miles allowing for some beautifully positioned riverside homes with fabulous river views.
