Co-op Academy New Islington is a vibrant academy where children are enthusiastic and motivated to learn.

Children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that the opportunities we provide are memorable and relevant to our pupils both now and in the future. We want children to be happy, confident, and curious about their learning. Their wellbeing and happiness are our priority.

Through our engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning that will help them develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We make sure individual talents can be spotted and developed to ensure that all children experience success and reach their full potential.

The Academy has a passionate and dedicated team that strives for the highest standards in everything we do, and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with families, the local community, and the other Academies in the Co-op Academies Trust. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and academy, regard you as an active partner in your child’s education, and value your interest and support.

I am very proud to share our wonderful opportunities and developments with you.  We always look forward to welcoming visitors and would love to show you around our amazing academy!

Our Vision

At Co-op Academy New Islington, we encourage our pupils to approach all challenges and opportunities presented to them with confidence and resilience. Staff and pupils work together towards a common goal of high achievement for all, through a culture in which tolerance, openness and fairness is encouraged.

New Islington pupils leave primary school well-equipped for the next stage of their education, with a firm foundation of knowledge, understanding and skills, and a love of learning.

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Demonstrating the Ways of Being Co-op in our everyday lives.
  • Celebrating the cultural, religious and social diversity of our school community.
  • Co-operating and collaborating, where everyone works together for a common goal to maximise the potential of every individual
  • Ensuring that our children are safe and secure at all times, and that all adults fully understand the role that they play in safeguarding our children
  • Developing a curriculum for excellence: ambitious, aspirational, relevant, and varied – a curriculum that supports all our pupils regardless of ability.
  • Delivering this curriculum within a high quality and safe environment.
  • Having high expectations for positive behaviour, modelling and supporting, guiding and encouraging.
  • Having a strong and well-informed Academy Governing Council that acts as a champion for the school.

Co-op Academies Trust, founded in 2010 is a group of schools across the North of England doing things differently. Made up of Primary, Secondary, Special and Colleges we operate under the belief that by raising aspirations, offering a leading education alongside forward thinking experiences and opportunities outside of the classroom, we can develop tomorrow’s leaders and help communities.

We want a fairer world for all, and this is why we work so closely with our sponsor the Co-op Group, who support us in our Cooperative initiatives.
