Crabtree Farm Primary School is situated on the Crabtree Farm Estate in the town of Bulwell. The estate is approximately four miles from the centre of Nottingham. The school was built in 1969 to serve the housing estate.
A high proportion of our pupils are eligible for free school meals. Less than 1% of pupils come from homes where English is not the main language. Most of the housing on the local estate and the surrounding area is council owned property. Nearly all the pupils come from the estate.
The Bonington Schools have been popular and successful and we have high aspirations for our new Primary School. Our parents are confident with the provision of the education we provide and we are determined to build on our previous Ofsted successes.
The school is part of the Education in Partnerships for Bulwell and works in partnership with the L.A., Local Parent’s, Business, T.E.C., and others to encourage innovative approaches to tackling disadvantage and raising standards. The School belongs to a ‘Family’ of schools comprising of the local primary and secondary schools.
The Governors and staff have always aimed to raise standards by identifying key areas for school improvement. These include raising teacher expectation and pupils’ aspirations for achievement; curriculum development and monitoring; and improvements to assessment procedures to enable teachers to set appropriate targets. This will continue to be a focus of the new Primary.
Support and staffing ratios are at a generous level. The school and grounds are well developed with new adaptations planned for the near future. Our educational resources are plentiful and well organised.
School standards are exemplary and we are determined to continue this trend, while maintaining our happy welcoming atmosphere.
