About Us

At Southbroom Infants’ School, we believe that every child matters, and learning at our school should be fun and exciting, challenging and rewarding. We offer a warm and caring environment which enables children to feel safe and secure as they grow, learn, and develop.

The first years in school are the most important and can shape children’s attitudes to learning and school. We hope by the time children leave Southbroom Infants’, they will have developed a good sense of self-worth and a love of learning so that they are happy and motivated as they continue on their journey through education.

The school consists of eight well-resourced classrooms, and all teaching spaces are equipped with interactive whiteboards. The reception classes share an enclosed outdoor learning area that they use all year round. The school also has a large playground, a wildlife area, and a grassed field that is home to a variety of play equipment.

Our Vision and Values

Our School Mission

At Southbroom Infants' School, we aim to provide your child with the best possible education and the securest of environments.

We are committed to creating a happy, positive environment where all children thrive academically and socially. Our children will become confident, independent learners who are determined to succeed and have a love for life and learning. We believe everyone in our school should demonstrate respect for themselves, their peers and the wider community, taking increasing responsibility for being the very best they can be. It really is a ‘place to shine’.

We are aware that children learn in a variety of ways, and we seek to include this knowledge in our planning and teaching. We connect what we teach with what the children already know and understand, and ensure that the children have time for thinking and review.

Our teaching philosophy is simple: we aim to combine the best of tried-and-tested methodology with new and innovative ways of teaching.

British Values

At Southbroom Infants’ School, we actively promote British values through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum, and teaching. As such, we promote tolerance of, and respect for, people of all faiths (or those with no faith), cultures, and lifestyles.

We prepare children and young people positively for life in modern Britain by supporting them through our words, actions, and influence, not just within school, but also within the wider community.

Promoting Our Values

We have developed, in consultation with our children, staff, governors and parents our own set of values that we explicitly teach across the school year.

The White Horse Federation

The White Horse Federation, made in Swindon, founded in 2012

The White Horse Federation is a Multi Academy Trust of primary schools, secondary and special schools. The federation grew from a passion to be collaborative in providing a first class education to a wide range of children so that each one could more fully understand what they were capable of, what talents they had and to strive for excellence in themselves in order to succeed in the next phase of their education and in the world of work.

At its heart is a belief that we want to develop the type of schools that we would be proud to send our own children to. We do this with a relentless drive for academic excellence blended with a shared moral purpose and shared values but also with an awful lot of fun and happiness in our schools. We genuinely believe in partnership working with our schools, the pupils and their parents and the wider community each serves to create the best possible outcomes for our children.

We also believe that our colleagues are among the finest in the country and we are proud to empower them through support, training and career opportunities. With such outstanding staff we are able to ensure every student achieves all that they are capable of and more, regardless of background, culture, heritage or ability.
