Headteacher's Welcome

The first time that I came to Hannah More, I could tell that it was a magical place to be. I knew that I wanted to work here because the sense of community was so strong. The children were so enthusiastic and questioned the world around them. They welcomed me warmly and talked excitedly about their learning.

I wasn’t wrong, and since I have taken over as Headteacher I have seen the strength of community and relationships here. Hannah More is a diverse school with a big heart. The staff are amazing and all work incredibly hard to give children the best opportunities available. A carefully thought through curriculum, with our school community and position in the very centre of Bristol at its core, ensures that children learn with purpose and make excellent progress from their starting points.

We have 5 key values that run through everything that we do; Nurture, openness, respect, determination and enjoyment. Our relationship-based approach recognises the fact that all children need to be nurtured to achieve. Openness is fundamental when teaching children about different cultures, faiths and opinions. Children learn to respect everyone and everything and be proud of their school and recognise the achievements of everyone around them. Determination is celebrated and children are resilient learners. All of the above is framed by enjoyment. We know that a love of learning can hold the key to successful education and a job and career that they enjoy.

The best way to appreciate Hannah More is to come and see us. We have been developing our outdoor space with a new forest and meadow. People are always amazed when they see the outdoor space that our children are lucky enough to have.

Come and join the Hannah More community!

Vision and Values

At Hannah More Primary School, our vision is of a dynamic, engaged and thriving community that inspires ambition, pride and success in every child. We are currently reviewing our vision. Having met with governors, children, parents and staff, we will be deciding on our new vision statement in the coming weeks. The community will be voting on their choice!

Our values explore how we behave within our school:

Determination - The ability that all members of the school community demonstrate to 'stick at it'. The commitment to producing our best work, shown by every member of the community and our resilience in difficult circumstances.

Openness - The ability our school community has to communicate without pretence, reserve or defensiveness. Our lack of prejudice and our receptiveness to new ideas and arguments.

Nurture - The expertise our school shows at caring for and growing individuals.

Enjoyment - The fulfilment that all members of our school community are able to derive from their involvement and learning.

Respect - The fairness, understanding and acceptance that members of the school community demonstrate in all their dealings with each other. The message our school conveys publicly about valuing diversity and celebrating communities.
