Overview

Haydn  Primary School is one of the first schools in Nottingham City to adopt the Fair Workload Charter.

If you see a job advert with the Fair Workload Logo, that School has signed up to the Charter.

This means that you can expect:

  • a fair and reasonable workload
  • high-quality training and professional development opportunities that meet the needs of individual members of staff
  • a pay and rewards package at least that of the national agreement for teachers, and the Local Authority pay scale for support staff.

The Fair Workload Charter sets out what teachers and other staff can expect from the schools that sign up to participate. This includes adopting schemes such as the ‘five-minute lesson plan’ model and the marking policy clarifying what will and won’t be marked. Schools should also ensure teachers get access to Continuous Professional Development and that Teaching Assistants are supported to progress to Qualified Teacher Status where they choose to do so.

About us

Haydn is a Primary school. It is situated in the district of Sherwood near the edge of the City of Nottingham. It caters for pupils between the ages of three and eleven.

We have just received Ofsted Outstanding in our recent inspection and we are very proud of our achievement.

The Foundation Classes accommodate children between the ages of three and five years old. There is a Key Stage 1 Department for children aged between five and seven years. Junior children remain at Haydn until they are eleven years old. The children then transfer to a number of different secondary schools at the end of year six.

If you are considering admitting your child to Haydn, it is advisable that you visit us and look around the school, so that you can discuss the matter and see the school. Once your child has started at Haydn, you are always very welcome to come into school. We advise you to telephone our Office before you arrive, so that we can arrange for someone to be available to help you and to answer any questions that you may wish to ask.

At Haydn we provide a disciplined and stimulating environment for all children to learn and succeed. We all believe that the staff, parents and Governors should work together to make children’s learning experience happy, successful and exciting. We have a Parent Liaison Worker who is concerned specifically with developing relationships between home and school. However, any member of staff will be pleased to help you if the need arises.

At Haydn we are committed to providing a fully inclusive environment where all children are valued. Every child's needs are individual and the school supports both able learners and those in need of additional support through targeted interventions such as Reading Recovery and 1:1 Tuition in writing and maths.

Our Aim

Our aim is to:

  • provide all our pupils with a fully inclusive, structured and disciplined framework - one where success is celebrated and challenges are set and met and where children are encouraged to explore opportunities creatively.
  • continually improve standards of teaching and learning focusing upon literacy, numeracy, and scientific investigation and developing pupils' ability to use ICT tools effectively.
  • provide innovative, creative and challenging teaching.
  • provide a broad and balanced curriculum that provides variety and equal opportunity for all pupils, allowing individuals to develop progressively and at their own rate.
  • provide planned educational opportunities that teach pupils about responsible behaviour in order that they will mature into people who will make valuable contributions to our diverse and multicultural world and the environment we are to live in.
  • involve parents and community in the daily life of the school to achieve common goals through partnership.
  • offer all staff and others involved with school the opportunity to continually develop their own skills, knowledge and understanding in order to meet both the school and their own needs
