Headteacher's Welcome

We are an open and welcoming school set within a strong local community. Our school caters for children from the ages of four to eleven. We have three mixed age classes (Reception and Key Stage 1, Year 3 and 4, Year 5 and 6) housed in large, well-resourced classrooms. We provide a high-quality learning experience for children, enabling them to access a range of academic, sporting and arts related opportunities. We offer daily breakfast club and after school activities to provide yet more fun opportunities and support for working families.

At Hemington Primary, we have a committed team of staff and a dedicated governing body who create a happy, welcoming and secure environment. Our children love coming to school and make the most of the opportunities provided to them. We aim to engage all members of the school community in learning, in school life and to celebrate our successes together! We believe that the partnership between families and the school is vital and we actively encourage the community to become involved in the life of our school.

At Hemington Primary, our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that our children need to be proud of who they are, their achievements and their individuality. We provide children with the confidence to be an active part of the local community, explore opportunities available to them and develop their aspirations, hopes and dreams in a safe and caring environment. Our curriculum allows us to bring learning to life. Our topic based approach is designed to allow us to teach the breadth of the National Curriculum, alongside enrichment experiences, building on our pupils’ cultural capital. Our curriculum is designed to be aspirational and challenging, to ensure that pupils reach their full potential and are enthused by learning.

The Hemington Primary School motto of Aspire, Believe, Achieve are central to the ethos of our school. To ensure that we are all living out these values, we have decided as a school community to encourage everyone to live by our three expectations – Respect, Responsibility and Readiness. These three expectations encompass everything we do as a school.

It is a privilege to be the Co-Headteachers of such a vibrant, successful, and friendly school. We will strive each day to ensure your child has an excellent experience here.

Andrea Reay and Lucy Timbrell.

About Us

Hemington Primary School is a small village school serving, as it has done since 1878, the beautiful Leicestershire villages of Hemington and Lockington. We have an excellent reputation and welcome children from the two villages, Castle Donington and the surrounding area.

As the main amenities for the villages are the Church and Village Hall in Lockington and the Public House and the School in Hemington, the school has a particularly important role within the community. We pride ourselves on the nurturing environment we provide for the children, dedicated staff and governing body and strong parental support.
