Overview

Hempshill Hall is a school that puts the interest and needs of its children first. As a team of staff we strive to do all we possibly can to encourage all of our pupils to fulfil their true potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.

We want our children to learn and flourish in an environment where they are inspired to take on greater and greater challenges, building upon successes and confidently learning from mistakes.

Our school celebrates individual achievement and high standards of behaviour and learning are maintained to ensure that every child makes substantial progress during their time with us.

About Us

Hempshill Hall is a popular school and we think it is a special place. Visitors comment on the welcoming atmosphere and we have a dedicated and stable staff team. Our school is a two-form entry and provides 420 full time places and up to 90 part-time Foundation 1 places. The school serves the Hempshill Vale estate at the northern edge of the City of Nottingham. As a result of its high reputation, the school attracts more than half of its pupils from out of catchment. Hempshill Hall opened in 1973 with 48 pupils and two teachers. Over the years it has been extended and developed to provide an outstanding learning environment. All classes have access to large practical areas. There is a hall, a large conservatory and a library. The Early Years unit was developed to provide superb indoor and outdoor facilities for our youngest learners.

Hempshill Hall Primary is set in attractive grounds with plenty of space for outdoor learning. Gardening is an important part of our curriculum and we have sheds, fruit trees, raised vegetable beds and a green-house made from recycled bottles. To develop nurturing skills, we have some animals that the children help to take care of. They include: rabbits, guinea-pigs, chickens and finches. At break times children can use the trim trail and enjoy a wide range of activities from building blocks to stilts. The field, basketball court and Astroturf allow us to enjoy Sports throughout the year.

Primary 6 Partnership

Primary 6 Partnership (P6P) 2016/17

‘The Primary 6 Partnership’s over-arching aim is to raise standards and improve outcomes for all children and young people in its community. It aspires to create a culture of high aspiration, a commitment to life-long learning and a determination to succeed and enjoy’

Schools that form the Primary 6 Partnership are Ambleside, Heathfield, Hempshill Hall, Old Basford, Rosslyn Park Primary Schools, a mix of maintained schools and academies. The partnership emerged from an existing family of schools with strong historical relationships.

As five schools operating across six sites serving over 2,500 children, we collaborate on six key areas.

There is a commitment from all schools to share expertise and resources to be as efficient and effective as possible, to enable children, staff and communities reach their potential. The P6P seeks to raise educational standards and provide positive, engaging learning opportunities and impact on school improvement by being:

A network of excellence- improving whole system performance through our effective learning partnerships and joint practice development.

An engine of improvement – through support and challenge we will share strengths to address areas for improvement.

A source of efficiency- ensuring best value and sharing resources through collaboration.

The cohesive group of Head teachers direct the work of the partnership, monitor the implementation of the action plan and provide professional peer support. They are also keen to evaluate the impact of the various projects to ensure we are working effectively and they are supported by a part-time Partnership Manager.

Over recent years we have worked successfully with a range of partners, including Royal Shakespeare Company, Transform Teaching School Alliance, Nottingham City Council, Enabling Enterprise, National Literacy Trust, Patrons of Reading, Independent Thinking, The British Council, Nottingham University, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham Playhouse, and Nottingham Theatre Royal amongst others.

The Partnership priorities relate to School Improvement Plans and governors receive updates each term in order to consider the impact of activity for their own schools. The P6P is keen to innovate and to keep up to date with key policy developments in order to anticipate the educational opportunities and challenges ahead.

“Working together as a committed group of schools has enormous benefits for children, families and staff across our communities, By supporting and challenging one another, and sharing our resources, everyone gains from the added value that such a creative partnership brings to our individual schools”
