Holy Cross opened its doors to the children of the Parish of Whitwick in 1902.
For over 100 years it has been serving all of the families of the area, Catholic and non-Catholic and we are proud to have educated several family generations. As an integral part of the village, we provide learning for children from 3 to 11 years of age for both boys and girls and all abilities.
In 2016, we were inspected by Ofsted and our Catholic Diocese. In both inspections, we were rated as “Good.” In both, the inspectors made several comments about the excellent behaviour of our children as well as the high standard of learning in our school. Ofsted stated, “There is a strong sense of community in the school.” Our Canonical Inspectors said, “The strength of the positive relationships fostered within the community is a strength of the school.”
We are very proud of these judgements as the happiness and welfare of our pupils is of the utmost importance and our primary focus.
In September 2018 the school became part of the St Thomas Aquinas Academy Trust.
We are truly blessed to belong to a family of schools which, with Christ at the heart of all that we do, shares a common mission to prepare our young people for a wholesome, fulfilling, active life in the future. Our commitment to all parents and carers is to care for, support and educate your child to the highest possible standards and provide them with the skills and knowledge they will need in their future life.
Our school motto, which underpins all that we do is; “In the Light of Jesus we Love, Listen and Grow.”
