About Us

Children are taught as individuals, in small group and classes, and their learning is assessed regularly so that support and challenge are given where appropriate.

It is important to us that as well as achieving, our children enjoy their time in school and feel safe.

We believe that fun and learning should go hand in hand and that every child will learn and develop through a creative and enjoyable curriculum. Starting in our Reception class and progressing through to our Year 6 children, enjoyment and achievement is at the heart of what we do.

We strongly believe that we must deliver an inspiring curriculum that is fit for today’s pupils and also meets their needs for the future. We have invested in technology to support our childrens’ learning and we encourage extensive and creative use of ICT. Children use digital and video cameras to record and extend their learning and every class is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and networked computers.

Educational visits and visitors into school focus and underline the children’s understanding of the work we cover.

Events throughout the school year give further opportunities for children to display their talents. School productions with singing, dancing and acting give both children and parents memories that will last forever.

Our strong links to the local family of schools ensure that the curriculum is further enriched, enabling us to provide a wide range of sporting activities.

Values and Ethos

Kilby St Mary's Church of England (Aided) Primary School ensures that all members of the school community feel safe, valued and cared for.

We appreciate and value the uniqueness of each individual and nurture these personal and individual gifts.

Our special Christian identity is demonstrated in the values we share and in the relationships that all members of the school community have with one another.

We are inclusive and welcome others regardless of differences; all individuals are respected, supported and nurtured.

We give to others the tolerance, understanding and forgiveness that we would want for ourselves.

Living and Working in Leicestershire

In the Heart of England - Residents of Leicestershire enjoy the best of everything

From refreshing and beautiful countryside and personable market towns to vibrant city living, Leicestershire offers a distinctive and high quality of life that will suit all lifestyles

Leicestershire is a beautiful county at the heart of England, within the developing National Forest. It is a county where you can discover completely unspoilt villages and market towns, open countryside and panoramic views with rocky summits and secluded valleys.

Leicestershire has a wide variety of attractions including Bosworth Battlefield, where the course of English history changed dramatically, Snibston Discovery Park, which recalls our industrial past, and the National Space Centre.

Loughborough, in the north of the County is at the forefront of Information Technology and Loughborough University is also the national headquarters for many sports in the UK. A number of Olympic teams will be training at Loughborough University in preparation for the 2012 Games in London, including, among others, the British Swimming Team, the British Triathlon Team, the elite British Athletes and the English Women’s Football Team.

The jet engine was invented in Lutterworth, in the south of the County, while Hinckley in the west was where the hosiery and footwear industries evolved. Ashby-de-la-Zouch, in the north-west, and Market Harborough, in the south-east, are two very attractive, historical market towns. Melton Mowbray, in the north-east, is a rural market town famous for the pork pie and for Stilton cheese.

Cosmopolitan and cultured, historic but futuristic, Leicester in the centre of the County is nothing if not varied, with its strong cultural diversity, excellent entertainment, night-life and restaurants. The newly re-developed centre of the City offers a wide range of shopping opportunities, from the largest permanent outdoor market in Europe to the extensive Highcross shopping centre.

Leicestershire is well served by many transportation networks. Four motorways (M1, M69, M42 and M6) run through the County, and there are regular trains to London, Nottingham, Birmingham and the North. For international travel East Midlands Airport is located in the north of the County, and Birmingham Airport is also easily accessible
