About Us

The Knowle West Nursery School site has been at the heart of the Knowle West community for over 70 years. The school has welcomed generations of families and places a high value on a warm family-centred ethos.

We are one of twelve local authority-maintained nursery schools in Bristol and we offer high quality early years provision in a beautiful learning environment.

Our main site on Leinster Avenue was redeveloped in 2017 to offer more space and a bespoke provision which OFSTED currently rate as ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ features. Our smaller sister site at the Inns Court Family and Community Centre has been open since 2013 and is currently rated as an ‘outstanding’, ‘exceptional’ early years provision by OFSTED.

One of our core values is ‘we all matter – we all belong’ which promotes our inclusive culture and is a key element of our high-quality provision where each child is valued, nurtured and gets what they need to thrive and succeed.

Our Equality Objectives

1. To promote shared understanding of individual's identities and cultures throughout the centre; ensuring that all children and their families feel valued and welcomes as part of our community.

2. To track the progress of the most vulnerable and 20% lowest attaining children; ensuring they receive the most appropriate support so that the attainment gap closes between this group and the rest of the children.

3. To drive up both boys and girls attainment across the centre so that their achievements are in line with each other; specifically focusing on boys achievement.

4. To work with families in our community to support them to achieve economic well being and independence.

A warm welcome to Knowle West Nursery School, and we hope you find our website useful and informative.

The Knowle West Nursery School site is at the heart of the Knowle West community. Over the years, it has welcomed generations of families and places a high value on a warm, family-centred ethos.

We are one of twelve local authority-maintained nursery schools in Bristol, and we offer high-quality early years provision in a beautiful learning environment.

One of our core values is We all Matter—We all Belong, which promotes our inclusive culture and is a key element of our high-quality provision, where each child is valued, nurtured, and given what they need to thrive and succeed.

It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of such a wonderful school, and I am proud to have been here for over 13 years as a room teacher, Deputy Headteacher, and SENCO. I am passionate about continuing our work for the Knowle West community, and I am joined by a dedicated and highly qualified staff team committed to giving children the best start in life so that they can learn, grow, be heard, and be happy.

We all look forward to welcoming you and your child to the Knowle West Nursery School family.

With very best wishes,
