Welcome from the Headteacher

Enabling every young person to learn, flourish & succeed.

We are an inclusive, Church of England secondary school and Sixth Form with a rich history of educating the young people of Lutterworth since 1880. We pride ourselves on offering a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by exceptional pastoral care, ensuring an all-through education that enables every student at our school to learn, flourish and succeed.

I’ve been working at Lutterworth College since 2005. I live in the community, and my children attend one of our feeder primaries. In time, they’ll be attending the College.

We are ideally placed for commuting from a wide area, being situated about five minutes from M1 J20 in the rural and picturesque village of Lutterworth. Whilst the majority of our staff live within Leicestershire, we have a number who commute daily from Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.

We encourage visitors to the school. Please feel free to contact Diane Orton at d.orton@lutterworthcollege.com for an informal tour, or more information should you wish.

I want Lutterworth College to be a great school, but without any tricks or stunts. We prioritise the things we believe matter the most: a broad and enriching curriculum that comprises both academic and practical learning; well-taught lessons that ensure students enjoy coming to school; exceptionally high expectations that prepare them for life beyond the classroom; and a wealth of opportunities for them to flourish.

It is an honour to work at the College. We’re building a school for Lutterworth and its surrounding communities that delivers a high-quality education and helps shape our students into mature, responsible and respectful young adults.

I hope you enjoy learning about our school and, if you decide that we are the right place for you, I look forward to welcoming you.

Our History

We’re really proud of the College’s history. We have been educating the young people of Lutterworth and its surrounding areas since 1880. Initially a boarding school for around 30 students, the College is now home to more than 1,500 learners – all of whom are taught to ‘Dare to be wise’, or ‘Sapere aude’, to use our Latin motto.

The College used to be known as Lutterworth Grammar School. While our vision and values are influenced by our rich heritage, it’s important to us that we’re not stuck in the past. We are constantly looking forwards to ensure our students are well prepared for the challenges and demands of modern life.

For most of our students, Year 7 is just the beginning of a seven- year educational journey. Although academic achievement and intellectual inquiry are central to our work, social and emotional development is at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to nurturing an environment in which all of our learners feel valued and safe so that they can develop into happy, confident and respectful young people.

We hope you want to join us on the adventure.
