Overview

At Melbury, children at the heart of everything we do. By choosing to join the Melbury community we will ensure that you will be given lots of CPD opportunities to help you become the very best teacher you can so that our children have the very best opportunities to succeed in life.

We are a Good school where pupils achieve well and good progress reflects good teaching. We are  member of the Nottingham Schools Trust where schools work together to provide the best possible education for Nottingham City Children. “Run by schools for schools”. We are also members of the Transform Teaching Alliance. These strong partnerships help us to develop  and continuously work at improving outcomes for our children.

Ofsted Nov 2015 reported: “You have maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Working with the governing body, senior leaders and the staff, you have created a calm, orderly and purposeful school, in which pupils work enthusiastically.”

This means that you can expect:

  • a fair and reasonable workload
  • high-quality training and professional development
  • opportunities that meet the needs of individual members of staff
  • a pay and rewards package at least that of the national agreement for teachers and the Local Authority pay scale for support staff.

The Fair Workload Charter sets out what teachers and other staff can expect from the schools that sign up to participate. This includes adopting schemes such as the ‘five-minute lesson plan’ model and the marking policy clarifying what will and won’t be marked. Schools should also ensure teachers get access to Continuous Professional Development and that Teaching Assistants are supported to progress to Qualified Teacher Status where they choose to do so.
