Overview

Middleton is a vibrant, culturally diverse and very friendly school. There are currently 630 children on roll from F2-Y6 and up to 78 children in our part-time Nursery.

We have accreditation as a UNICEF ‘Rights Respecting School’, recognising the importance that we place on creating an inclusive and caring school community with children’s wellbeing and rights at the heart of everything we do. We are currently the only school in Nottingham to hold the RRS Gold Award. We also hold the International Schools Award; this recognises how we foster a global dimension in our curriculum and aim to promote cultural understanding to help children prepare for their future in today’s world.

At our most recent inspection in February 2023, Ofsted judged us to be ‘Good’. The report commented that “pupils are polite and considerate of one another. Pupils value their learning and know it is important. They are respectful to adults and adults are respectful to them.”

We are fortunate to have extensive grounds providing children with excellent opportunities for outdoor learning and creative and active play, with the beautiful surroundings of Wollaton Hall and Park on our doorstep too.

About Us

At Middleton Primary and Nursery School we aim to provide the highest possible standards of learning for all children, whilst encouraging them to become responsible and caring individuals who show respect for everyone. We provide as many varied opportunities as possible to ensure each child gains full and equal access to a challenging and creative curriculum. Developing citizenship, environmental awareness and a healthy lifestyle are central to our core purpose.

Our aim is for all children to feel safe, happy and healthy within our learning environment. We promote positive behaviour and attitudes that allow us to understand our World and help to protect our future. We strive to develop kindness, fairness and understanding at school and in the wider community. We believe that this is achieved through working as a team and in partnership with parents and the local community.

Our School Aims

* To inform and encourage all children to adopt a healthy lifestyle by promoting healthy eating, regular exercise and physical and mental well being.

Nottingham Schools Trust

Middleton is a part of the Nottingham Schools Trust. In 2017 a group of Nottingham schools joined forces to form the Trust - a collaborative partnership focusing on improving education for the children of Nottingham. NST has a priority to provide sustainable school-to-school support to all of the member schools within the Trust, and to take full advantage of the breadth and expertise that already exists within member schools. NST's guiding principles are to challenge, support and improve member schools and academies to ensure that all children succeed. Middleton has a voice in the decision-making process, through the Trust's open and transparent governance. Moreover, the Trust values the diversity which exists in our schools and actively encourages each school joining the Trust to maintain and further develop its own distinctive culture and identity.
