Overview

Prendergast School and Prendergast Sixth Form College are part of an outstanding 11 – 18 school. The school is a girls’ school from years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form is co-educational. We were founded in 1880 as Prendergast Grammar School for Girls and became part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools in 2008. We have been providing outstanding education to the community for over 100 years. The school is set in the outstanding grounds of Hillyfields Park with a second site which opened in March 2014, on Adelaide Avenue overlooking the park.   Prendergast School is an oversubscribed extremely successful girls’ school with a large co-educational federated Sixth Form. Students join Prendergast Sixth Form College from the schools within the federation and beyond. In 2003, 2007 and 2013 Prendergast School was judged “Outstanding” by Ofsted. “Students’ achievement in Years 7-11 is excellent. They make outstanding progress so that standards they are reaching overall in their GCSE examinations are considerably higher than the national average”. “The school is a harmonious community in which everyone enjoys learning together and is determined to achieve well”. “Leaders at the school have a relentless focus on continuing to improve the educational experiences offered to the students and raising the high standards of achievement even further”. “Governors are fully committed to providing the best possible education for the students at the school. They provide strong support and rigorous challenge to the school leaders”. “The sixth form is good. Achievement is good and improving, and the curriculum is developing to meet the needs of the growing number of students on roll”. (Ofsted 2013) Attainment and progress at GCSE and A-Level is high and significantly above local and national averages. In 2016 68% of GCSE students achieved 5 A*- C including English and Maths. We are very proud of our school and its success and are committed to the continuous improvement and development of Prendergast School and Prendergast Sixth Form College. Pension scheme

All staff are eligible to join their relevant pension scheme (either the Teacher’s Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme depending on their role). 

Childcare voucher scheme

All staff are entitled to apply for childcare vouchers this is a salary sacrifice scheme, exempt form tax and NI contributions, saving you money on the cost of childcare. 

Ride to work scheme

The Federation participates in the Ride2Work scheme which allows staff to obtain substantial discounts, via tax allowances, for the purchase of a bicycle. The aim of the scheme is that the bicycle is primarily used for travel to and from work.

Season ticket loan scheme

The Federation offers interest free season ticket loans to staff to enable them to purchase an annual ticket for travel to and from work. 

Computer loan scheme

The Federation offers interest free computer loans to staff to enable them to purchase a personal computer. 

Confidential care

All staff have free access to a 24-hour confidential employee assistance programme, Worklife Support, designed to help individuals deal with a range of personal and general problems.

Annual leave (support staff only)

The minimum annual leave entitlement for support staff is 26 days a year (pro-rata for part-time) increasing to 31 days after 5 years’ service and 34 days after 10 years’ service.
