Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Rothley Church of England Academy. Our school is an incredible place to learn and grow. We are a caring school, with a team of dedicated professionals committed to providing a happy, safe, well-disciplined environment where all children can grow in God’s love and make the most of every learning opportunity offered to them. The emphasis is on excellence, excitement and challenge. Our mission is for every member of our school to be the very best that they can be.

We pride ourselves on inclusivity and service to our community. Children are encouraged to become independent, creative learners who also respect and care for others. We believe our school is a place where every child feels special and we hope that every child leaves us feeling they have something unique and special to offer the world in which they grow up.

Our core Christian values are: Courage, Generosity, Hope, Humility, Responsibility, Service, Truthfulness, Creativity, Forgiveness, Justice, Respect, Trust, Compassion, Friendship, Peace, Wisdom, Perseverance and Thankfulness,

These values are woven through our curriculum and every opportunity is taken to help our children develop these values so they can truly flourish in all they do.

Our vision is to strive for excellence in everything we do, working under God’s guidance and endeavouring to enable all to flourish, bear fruit and live well together.  This can also be seen in our strap-line taken from John 15:5 ‘…I am the vine and you are the branches’.

Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Everyone will flourish in our school community in mind, body and spirit. We ensure academic excellence enriched through the aspiration and hope exemplified in our Christian values.

Our Vision

Do our very best in everything we do

Jesus said "I am the vine: you are the branches"  - John 15:5

Ofsted

Our school was rated 'Good' during our latest Ofsted Inspection (December 2022).

"This school is ambitious for all pupils to achieve well. Leaders have ensured that academic achievement is high. However, their ambitions extend beyond the academic. There is an extensive extra-curricular offer. Pupils can hold many positions of responsibility, such as being a subject ambassador or pupil governor."

"Sitting at the centre of pupil development is the ‘Bee Code’. Pupils learn to ‘be ready, be respectful, be kind and be safe’. Pupils learn at an early stage the significance of this code in becoming responsible and respectful citizens. For example, they support their community through charity work. The ‘code’ ensures that pupils behave well and are supportive of one another. There is a real sense of community as a consequence."

"The curriculum is well planned and sequenced. Leaders have made sure it supports the needs of pupils. Staff have the necessary knowledge so that they can adapt lessons to support their pupils. They identify any misunderstandings and quickly address them. As a consequence, pupil engagement in lessons is high."

"Pupils’ behaviour in and around school is good. The school is calm and ordered. The ‘bee code’ underpins pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning. They all wear their bee badges as a reminder of the school’s expectations. They are proud to achieve their star awards for demonstrating one of the school’s Christian values."

"The school is well led. Leaders consider staff well-being and staff say they feel supported as ‘people’ as well as ‘teachers’."
