Overview

St Bernadette’s Primary School is a Catholic School in the trusteeship of the Diocese of Westminster. We are an Academy forming the ‘All Saints’ Trust alongside St Gregory’s High School in Kenton.  We are situated in a residential area adjacent to Queensbury Recreation Ground in the parish of All Saints’ Church, Kenton and also serves neighbouring parishes. The Diocesan Education Commission is responsible for appointment of Foundation Governors. The School Governors’ responsibilities are to ensure that the distinctive nature of Catholic education is preserved and developed and to provide a strategic plan for school development, so that pupils are given every opportunity to develop their talents to the full, reaching the highest standards of which they are capable. The School governors are also responsible for the appointment of the staff and the admission of pupils. The school is responsible for the expenditure of its own budgets. The Academy (Geographical Multi-Academy Trust) has a strategic board made up of 10 representatives who are a mixture of our own Governors, St Gregory’s Governors and 2 independent representatives. St Bernadette’s opened in September 1953 with 188 pupil on roll. The school has expanded and became an Academy in January 2016 with our Nursery and catering now for 480 children from ages 3+ to 11. The children are arranged in two mixed ability classes in each age group from Reception to Year 6. School starts at 8.55am and ends at 3.20pm, (with 1 hour lunch break).

About Us

The years spent at Primary School are amongst the most important in every child’s life and a successful partnership between home and school is of vital importance to ensure the happiness of your children, an essential ingredient for there success.

At St. Bernadette’s we aim to educate the ‘whole’ child and we attempt to provide a wide variety of learning experiences to that end. We recognise that each child has differing interests, abilities and aptitudes and we aim to develop these in appropriate ways. We offer a creative curriculum designed to interest and challenge each child.

We would like this school to be an extension of the family unit, influencing for good the development of your child’s character and personality in a secure and happy environment. We have high expectations of good behaviour based on the teachings of Jesus Christ through the Gospels and on mutual respect and consideration for our fellow human beings. We have one main school rule ‘to treat others as we would like to be treated.’

We want the children’s time at St Bernadette’s School to be happy and successful so that when they leave us they will do so happily and confidently as well adjusted people growing in the love of Christ with the positive attitudes to work and to other people, and ready to face the challenges of an ever widening and changing community.
