We are part of Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company who are a family of schools united in Christ and working as one, to provide the very best Catholic education, faith formation and personal growth, rooted in Gospel values.

Today, there are 10 schools in our family, one secondary, nine primary schools, including a Teaching School, spanning the Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell and Worcestershire Local Authorities. We have over 3000 children, over 400 staff and over 100 Directors and Local Governors

St Gregory's is a well-established school with over eighty percent of the school population being of the Roman Catholic faith. The school is an integral part of St. Gregory’s Parish and serves mainly the children of Catholic parents from the Parish. It does, however, welcome applications from parents of other faith traditions who wish to have their children educated in a Christian school.

The school is situated in the middle of owner occupied terraced housing. It has a standard number of 30 children per class in the main school and 26 full time equivalent children in the Nursery.

Catholic Ethos

The school was founded by and is part of the Catholic Church. The school is to be conducted as a Catholic school in accordance with canon law and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and in accordance with the Trust Deeds of the Archdiocese of Birmingham and in particular:

  • Religious education is to be in accordance with the teachings, doctrines, discipline and general and particular norms of the Catholic Church.
  • Worship is to be in accordance with the rites, practices, discipline and liturgical norms of the Catholic Church.

And at all times the school is to serve as a witness to the Catholic faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mission and Values

Our mission and motto is Loving and Learning

To love all those with whom we come into contact as taught to us by Jesus through the Gospels.

To learn to the best of our ability using our God given talents.

At St. Gregory’s we teach and live Gospel Values. The values as taught to us by Jesus Christ – what He said, what He did and what He told us to do. These values are:

  • Respect - Respect for others, respect for the school building, respect for the values and beliefs of others, respect for ourselves, respect for our Catholic community, respect for other religions, countries and cultures.
  • Forgiveness - Following Jesus’ teachings by seeking to reconcile our differences, by saying sorry and by forgiving others and giving opportunities to make things better.
  • Truth - Knowing that telling the truth and being honest is always the right way.
  • Kindness - Trying our best to show kindness to others in all that we say and do, having kind hands and kind words for everyone – even those we find it hard to get on with sometimes.
  • Equality - Every human being is equal and valuable and loved by God. Everyone in our school is equal, unique and special and we treat everyone fairly. Everyone is equally special regardless of their gender, religion, ethnicity or cultural background.

Principal's Welcome

"At St. Gregory's School we strive to produce successful learners who make progress and achieve, confident individuals who lead safe and healthy lives, and responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society."

A warm welcome to St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School on behalf of myself, the Academy committee, staff and the school community.

As a practising and committed Catholic it is an honour to serve as Principal within the parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel and St Gregory the Great.

I greatly enjoy working with the children of our parish, our parents/carers, staff and governors to ensure that the school provides a rich and rewarding experience for all.

The children are firmly at the heart of our school. We strive to do the very best that we can for our children. We believe strongly in a partnership between home and school and that together we can work successfully for the development of your child in all aspects of their learning and growth.

Our school is a happy, thriving school with a strong Catholic ethos. Our ethos and faith based curriculum enables children to discover and know the teachings of Jesus Christ. To live as Jesus did and follow His example in our daily lives and also provides a firm foundation for lifelong learning.

We are proud of the good relationships we have with our children, parents and carers and we are proud of the academic achievements of our pupils. We hope that you and your child will find this website interesting and informative and that you will enjoy learning about our school.

"Our best asset is our fantastic children who we have the pleasure and honour of working with everyday."

Mr Chris Hancox

Principal
