Welcome

Welcome

A Welcome from our Executive Headteacher. Mylene McGuire - National Leader of Education(NLE)

I am delighted to Welcome you to our lovely school. St Mary's was graded as Outstanding in all areas in our last full Ofsted inspection in May 2022.

We are a vibrant, ever-changing and developing community with a happy, family-orientated environment where many exciting things happen in and out of the classroom! Whether it is great success in sport, cultural activities, charity fund-raising, exciting trips, interesting visitors or parish events.

We are a Catholic School and celebrate each unique child. Our harmonious community has many children and families from other faiths and none. Together, we embrace our differences, create space for forgiveness and journey towards a shared understanding of God’s love for each of us. Because our children are listened to and valued, they feel they belong and continue to achieve and grow.

The Catholic Life of Our School

In choosing this Catholic school for your child we invite you to support their faith journey both at school and in Church whenever you can. As a Catholic community our aims and ideals are Gospel based and our faith permeates our every action. Our children have a rich and exciting curriculum grounded in the roots of our faith.

Our primary school is an extension of the Parish, and making Jesus known and loved is at the centre of everything we do.Our core teaching for our children is at the heart of our Mission: "Love one another as I have loved you"

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Our aim is to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment in which every child’s uniqueness is celebrated and can grow with Jesus as their example.

St Mary’s Mission: ‘Love one another as I have loved you’

We believe we are called to be Angels. Witness to God’s shining light on Earth; reaching out to the people and the world around us through our prayers, words, work and play.

Let us celebrate the uniqueness of every individual.

Let us work to uphold and protect the dignity of each person in our diverse, faithful and forgiving community.

Let us feel the presence of Christ’s love in the warmth of our welcome as we open our doors, our hearts and our minds to serve, strengthen and encourage all who enter here.

Let us be an inspirational community where we truly love one another as God loves us: With open hands and gentle kindness.

With quiet caring, vibrant voices, and joy in our hearts.

We want our pupils to:

  • Develop lively, enquiring minds with the ability to question and argue rationally
  • Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to participate as citizens in a rapidly changing world
  • Appreciate human achievement by study and knowledge of language and literature, mathematics, art, music, drama, science, technology and physical pursuits and to experience their own sense of achievement in these areas
  • Understand the world in which they live and the need for co-operation between individuals, groups and nations
  • Display responsibility and exercise judgement
  • Realise that the school is a caring, supportive learning environment, where there is equal opportunity, regardless of sex, race, age, culture or disadvantage
