Overview

The Alton is an inclusive community school, next to Richmond Park. We have extensive facilities that offer our children a wide array of fantastic, vibrant and diverse opportunities. We are also home to a small Resource Base - The Woodland Centre- for children on the autistic spectrum.

We want our children to love learning and enjoy school. We are part of the Q!E Trust and spend a great amount of time and energy ensuring our curriculum is exciting, thoroughly planned and well-resourced so that it provides our children with the skills and knowledge they will need for their future success in a changing world. We work hard to ensure that we develop our children’s self-esteem so they feel safe and understand their uniqueness and ability to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. We employ excellent teachers and support staff to maintain and further improve the quality of learning and teaching, and we monitor this closely.

About us

The Alton school is part of the Q1E Trust. At Q1E, we believe that “the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers” (McKinsey 2007). The recruitment, retention and development of high quality staff is our highest priority, doing ‘Whatever It Takes’ to help children fulfil their potential.

Staff wellbeing is very important to us. We provide clear structures, excellent resources and outstanding professional development for our staff. All teachers new to the Trust receive pre-induction training before starting in post.

We will continue to be uncompromising in our drive for improvement for all our children. To create a high-quality environment that nurtures and teaches the joys of learning whilst having the highest expectations for every individual.

Our Vision

To create a love for learning through personal excellence that continues throughout life, enabling everyone who comes through our doors to be the best that they can be. Ethos and Values Integrity, inclusion and equality are fundamental to all we do. Honesty, respect and pride in our achievements are crucial to our relationships. Achieving excellence, in its many forms, is imperative.
