The Horsell Village School is a community school for children aged four to seven. It is situated in the heart of the village opposite the Church of St. Mary the Virgin and was built as a school in 1851. The school celebrated 170 years of teaching in 2021. Over the decades the building has been sensitively extended, and today the school houses nine class bases, three classes in each year group, accommodating 270 children. The grounds provide a variety of learning opportunities, play areas and an environmental area with pond and gardens.
Our school motto ‘Kindness to yourself, Kindness to others and Kindness to the World’ underpins everything we do. Supporting children to develop an understanding of how to learn and to express and manage the emotions within this is fundamental in supporting them to develop into lifelong learners as well as rounded citizens who will go on to make a positive contribution to society.
Our curriculum reflects the needs of our learners and is built on key principles which include enquiry-based learning, outside learning, mental Health and well-being and values-based approach.
At The Horsell Village School, every individual within our community is recognised and valued. Through our five key values we support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school. We have five key values at school.
