It is a pleasure and privilege to present the school’s website to you and I hope the information presented will give you a real insight into the services that Treorchy Comprehensive School provides for its students, parents and the community at large.
Our school serves the Upper Rhondda district and there are currently approximately 1700 students educated at the school, over 400 of whom are in the Sixth form. There is a team of dedicated and committed staff and in the last three inspections in 2000, 2006 and 2012 teaching was described as ‘a major strength of the school’.
The most recent Inspection took place in March 2012 and the report confirmed that the school’s current performance is ‘Excellent’ and importantly, the school’s prospects for improvement are also ‘Excellent’.
The school was awarded the top grade in all 3 Key Questions and is also the first Secondary School in Wales to have achieved the ‘Excellent’ grade for all 15 judgements.
The ethos of the school is firmly embedded in our core values of mutual respect, high standards of self-discipline and hard work. An extensive and flexible curriculum, excellent pastoral care and a rich and diverse programme of extra-curricular activities ensure that all our learners thrive within a caring and supportive atmosphere.
