Welcome

Welcome to the Westfield Infant School website! I hope you will find the information useful and will be able to see from your visit the wonderful facilities for learning we are able to offer.

We like to work closely with parents/carers and we recognise it is important that you choose a school where you feel confident your child will be cared for, valued and most importantly will be happy. Your child will then be ready to learn.

Staff and governors are proud of this school and we recommend that prospective parents/carers visit us during the school day so you can see for yourself what an exciting, happy place it is!

About Us

Westfield Infant School is committed to high quality education and to serving its community and surrounding areas. We recognise the diverse multi-cultural, multi-faith and ever changing nature of the United Kingdom and actively promote these fundamental British Values by delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.

At the heart of our school is a set of core values:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Democracy
  • Aspire
  • Co-operation
  • Resilience

These values underpin our whole curriculum and school life and aim to ensure our pupils leave Westfield Infant School as happy, secure, caring and responsible citizens in a global society.

We promote Respect and Honesty through our school ethos and Behaviour and Discipline Policy. Posters around the school encourage respect for others and this is reiterated through our classroom and learning rules. Pupils actively take part in discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown.

Democracy is highly recognised within our school. Pupils have the opportunity to have their voices heard through weekly PSHE and Circle Time sessions, School Council and Pupil Questionnaires.

All pupils are encouraged to Aspire to achieve their best and understand that anything is achievable. Everyone at Westfield Infant School is supported to reach their full potential and all achievement is recognised.

Co-operation is embedded in all aspects of school life and the community. Pupils feel that they are an important part of the Westfield Community and have a responsibility for their own and others wellbeing.

Mistakes are recognised and valued as a normal and important part of the learning process. Through this our pupils develop Resilience and a positive attitude to life-long learning.

Each half term the school will have a different value to focus on. All pupils will participate in Circle Time discussions at the beginning of each half term and complete activities. At the end of each half term pupils will have the opportunity to reflect on how they and others have shown their understanding of our core values.

We believe that sharing our values with parents/carers in our community is essential in supporting the children through their journey in school and life. We acknowledge and understand the importance of the role that our community has to play and appreciate the need to inform them of the valuable work that we do. We do this through newsletters, assemblies and regular updates through our school website.
