Headteachers Welcome

I am delighted to be writing to you as the new Headteacher at Whinmoor St Paul’s C of E Primary. It is an honour and a privilege to have been chosen to build upon the successes the school has achieved under the leadership of the previous Headteacher Miss McBride.

I have loved every minute of my time here at WSP and many of you will know me through my previous roles as Deputy Headteacher, SENDCo and as a class teacher. I may have even taught your child! Therefore, I am aware that WSP has wonderful children, supportive families and a strong and committed team, which is a great place for a new Headteacher to start!

From my experience of being Deputy Headteacher I know that a happy and successful school, a school that thrives is dependent upon us all working together. As our families, I am aware that you have a valuable and important contribution to make towards your child’s educational outcomes and their achievements. I look forward to building upon and expanding the relationship between you and school.

The needs of the children will remain paramount in the decision making and life of the school here at WSPs. I can assure that we will continue to improve and maintain standards leading to the best educational outcomes for your child. In addition to this I will work hard to provide your child with exciting, creative and meaningful life experiences. This will ensure that your child is able to develop academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually and will ultimately prepare them for life in Modern Britain – the future adult members of our society.

Central to the being of the school will be the Church and our vision that we value every child as a unique child of God. I am passionate about working alongside the Church to ensure that our school continues to welcome all families – families of all faiths and no faiths in the ethos of Christianity.

Whinmoor St Paul’s is already on its journey to excellence and I am blessed to be in a position to lead our children, families and staff through our next chapter.

God Bless

Mrs Vaughan - Headteacher

About Us

Whinmoor St. Paul’s Church of England (Aided) Primary School is situated to the north of the city. It is at the heart of a suburban residential district bounded by the outer Leeds ring road, the A58 Wetherby Road and the Coal Road.

The number on roll is 217 and the children come from Church families and the local neighbourhood. The building, surrounded by playing fields, is a single storey structure built in the 1960s. As well as being the Parish and Community school, it also serves as a Church on Sundays and is extensively used by community groups Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday morning.

St. Paul’s is committed to providing a curriculum which encompasses the full range of primary knowledge and skills. Programmes of study are designed to provide good learning opportunities for children of all abilities.

Uppermost at all times is the Christian ethos of valuing the individual and seeking to fulfill the spiritual, mental and physical capabilities of future adult members of society.  St. Paul’s has its own Nursery School, and is a one form entry Primary School with seven classes. All class teachers have a teaching assistant to support and assist them in enabling all children to reach their full potential.

The school is well equipped and has the advantage of a computer suite as well as a full class set of laptops. Curriculum work is enhanced with additional arts projects, educational and residential visits, sports opportunities and a wide range of musical tuition. After school, staff, parents and outside agencies offer ‘school plus’ club activities for children.

St. Paul’s Church meets in the school hall on Sundays and on occasions children from school take part in these services. We have a PTFA that organises activities for children and their families and supports the work of the school. In addition, children regularly take part in local and wider community activities.
