Welcome

Welcome to our school’s website, I hope that you enjoy looking through our pages and finding out a little bit more about our school. If you are in the area, you are more than welcome to come and have a look around so you can experience first-hand some of the exciting and creative learning that takes place at Woodcote. If you are not able to visit, then we hope that this website will give you a flavour of our school.

Our dedicated staff respect the children’s individuality and ensure that they have opportunities to develop in all areas of learning through a balanced, creative curriculum. Every term, each class leads an assembly where they share their learning with the school.

We are thrilled to have been awarded the Achievement for All Quality Mark status and be accredited as a Route to Resilience School. The work that has gone into achieving these awards has impacted upon all of the children across the school. By working together with families, we have given more children positive experiences of school which has helped to develop confidence and well-being, as well as ensuring that the children have made progress in all areas of their learning. Being part of these programmes has helped us to prepare the children for life with a positive attitude towards learning.

We have a Special Educational Needs Resource Hub, Cherry Blossom House, attached to our school which supports up to ten children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The Hub enables children to learn within a safe and secure environment, enabling access the mainstream curriculum where they are able to. The children within Cherry Blossom House have a high ratio of adults to children and carry out focused work towards their Education, Health and Care Plan outcomes. For more information about our Hub, please contact the school and we will happily answer any questions that you may have.

About Us

At Woodcote Primary School we follow a Creative Curriculum in order to inspire our children. This means that rather than teaching individual subjects, wherever possible subjects are linked together in topics. We teach all National Curriculum statutory subjects – English, Maths, Science, ICT, History, Geography, Art, Design Technology, PE, Music and  Religious Education. In addition we teach Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) and French throughout the school. Children are given opportunities to be creative and develop all areas of the curriculum.

Our dedicated staff respect the children’s individuality and ensure that they have opportunities to develop in all areas of learning through a balanced, creative curriculum. Every Friday morning a class lead an assembly where they share their learning with the school; parents and grandparents are also invited in to watch their child’s assembly

We encourage our children to ‘rise to the challenge’, to persevere and to try their best. This is demonstrated through our Wonderful Woodcote Work Awards and Brilliant Behaviour Awards. The children love receiving their ‘smiles’ and ‘stars’. Once they have completed a row, they come to share their good news with me and help me to send a text to their parents to celebrate. We share these successes with the whole school on a Monday morning.

We believe in working in partnership with our parents and carers. By working together we are giving the children the best opportunities to succeed. We will always listen carefully to feedback, taking on board suggestions and comments.
