Overview

Ysgol Bro Hyddgen is a newly established 4 – 18 school  of  around 540 pupils, situated on two sites at the edges of the town.  Although a large percentage of the pupils live in the town, a significant number come from a more rural background.  We receive pupils from three counties: Powys, Gwynedd and Ceredigion.  The Powys section of the catchment area extends as far east as Carno and to Aberangell in the north-east.  The school is run by Powys Education Authority but arrangements are made for extra-district pupils from Gwynedd and Ceredigion.

The School Site The school grounds are attractive and the secondary schools playing fields are adjacent to the school and in excellent condition.  Although we have a recently refurbished gymnasium, the school also makes use of the facilities available in the nearby Leisure Centre.  There is a cycle shelter for pupils who cycle to school. The Hyddgen Centre opened in January 2009 and is a wonderful building which provides pupils with a state of the art learning environment.
