Vision, ethos and values

Children join us on their own personal journey and our role as a school is to nurture their talent. We will widen their aspirations and enable each child to thrive. We will do this within a motivating, supportive and respectful environment that allows them to develop into mature, confident and successful young adults.

Our school embraces three rules :

  • To Be Ready
  • To Be Respectful
  • To Be Responsible

About Us

We are a unique and thriving 3-16 school in the heart of the Rhondda valley. We strive to give excellent educational and wider life experiences to just over 1000 children and we have over 100 staff who are committed to ensuring their success on this exciting journey.

When we became a school in 2018, we have never been 'just' a primary and secondary school on one site, but we have worked together as an amazing team to develop a truly inclusive 3-16 school, which embraces the best innovative practices locally, nationally and internationally.

At Nantgwyn we believe that the best education combines high standards of academic and personal achievement with strong moral guidance. We believe that education should provide opportunities for every child to succeed in many ways, preparing them for a future in which they can thrive to become responsible, responsive citizens.

Together, with our parents, our children and our stakeholders, we are not afraid to be brave, to ensure that we provide an environment and educational experiences that will develop our children irrespective of any wider challenges into wonderful, courageous, courteous and caring young adults who understand the importance of mutual respect and tolerance and their future contribution to our world as happy and successful young adults.
