About Us

We opened in 2014 and now have five year groups: Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. We are growing each year taking in 60 children to Reception.

We are part of the Educate Together Academy Trust. Our unique ethical curriculum and our core principles are enabling us to create a learning environment that nurtures, encourages and builds the skills children will need in our increasingly diverse and globalised world. We are an equality based school where no child is an outsider and we learn together to live together. We aim to develop the whole child, encouraging their individuality, respecting each child's identity and respecting that of their family equally.

Redfield is a Rights Respecting School and this education is embedded in all interactions and explicitly taught. This supports and underpins our unique ethical Learn Together curriculum that is taught throughout the school.

We work hard to create a positive, comfortable atmosphere. The underlying concept is that human diversity enhances life, enriches culture and provides huge educational resources for current society and its future social, cultural and economic prosperity.

Our core principles are:

  • Equality based i.e. all children having equal rights of access to the school, and children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds being equally respected
  • Co-educational, all children are encouraged to explore their full range of abilities and opportunities
  • Child-centred, in that we put the children at the heart of every decision and activity. If it is not for children’s learning or welfare then why do it?
  • Democratically run with active participation by parents, pupils and the community in the daily life of the school, whilst positively affirming the professional role of teachers

We actively encourage and teach children to be active participants in our world, questioning and reflecting on all that life brings them.

Our ethical curriculum Learn Together is taught every day with the National Curriculum integrated into it. This means that the children will be ‘secondary ready’ with their core skills of Maths, English and Science and will also have a range of other skills to enable them to be proactive citizens. High standards in academic and non-academic subjects are the expectation.

We actively seek to question whether what we do is for the children's learning and the children's welfare. If it isn't then we question why we are doing it. We believe it is important to have high academic standards and maintain it is possible to achieve this alongside a creative and ethical curriculum.

Our Ethos

What Makes Educate Together Schools Different?

Educate Together primary schools are a new type of school being offered to families in England for the first time. They are a model of primary school that has been successfully developed over the past 35 years. The model and its special ethical education curriculum are particularly suited to the education of children for life in today's diverse and globalised world. Where schools differ from each other is in their “ethos”. The ethos of a school describes its spirit and character. This is built upon its legal aims and objectives, its policies and procedures and a school’s ethos should be reflected in all interactions and relationships within its community.

The fundamental legal concept of Educate Together’s sponsorship is that the Board of an Educate Together school is bound to operate a school that delivers equality of access and esteem to all children, irrespective of their social, cultural and religious backgrounds.

This very simple idea is the foundation of all policy and practice in the school, whether it is the admissions policy, the way that the Board carries out its work, the way that a code of behaviour is developed or the manner in which the curriculum is delivered.

Educate Together affirms that:

1) Children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds have a right to an education that respects their individual identity whilst exploring the different values and traditions of the world in which they live.

2) Parents are entitled to participate actively in decisions that affect the education of their children.

and commits itself to:

3) Support the establishment of schools which are,

Equality based i.e. all children having equal rights of access to the school, and children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds being equally respected,

Co-educational and committed to encouraging all children to explore their full range of abilities and opportunities,

Learner-centred in their approach to education,

Democratically run with active participation by parents in the daily life of the school, whilst positively affirming the professional role of the teachers.

Working for Us

We share the same ethos amongst staff as we do amongst parents and children. All are treated with equal esteem amd equality. We actively support all staff to pursue professional development opportunities in their own areas of interest and expertise and to learn more about the Learn Together Curriculum and the Educate Together ethos. This will involve in school training and visits to other Educate Together schools in Dublin.

Performance reviews and support are used as a tool to encourage and reward staff. Fast track opportunities are available for outstanding performance. As the school grows at 2 classes a year there will be many opportunities for development into leadership or other roles across the school. We welcome flexible staff who seek these type of opportunities.

Educate Together is planning to open more schools in the UK which will also lead to further opportunities.
